WATCH: The USACE Dredge Potter at Work
Here’s some cool video displaying the U.S. Army Corps. of Engineers’ Dredge Potter laborious at work close to the confluence of the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers.
The Dredge Potter was initially inbuilt 1932 and is a dustpan dredge. During operations, the dustpan head is submerged towards the river backside and water jets fire up the sand gravel on the underside of the river, which is then vacuumed up and moved by 800 toes of pipe to be discharged someplace outdoors the channel.
