Windcat has positioned a further order of two Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (CSOVs) with Damen Shipyards.
The order will increase Windcat’s CSOV fleet to 5 vessels, leaving the choice of buying a sixth vessel. This growth follows the preliminary announcement made in November 2022 concerning the development of a collection of hydrogen-powered CSOVs, the Elevation Series.
The Elevation Series CSOVs, launched in collaboration between Windcat and Damen Shipyards, encompasses a pioneering design that considerably enhances capabilities and adaptability in comparison with conventional vessels. The CSOVs are 87 meters lengthy, 20 meters broad and may accommodate as much as 120 individuals on board. The vessels are outfitted with a gangway, crane, thrusters, hybrid battery expertise and offshore charging functionality.
CMB.TECH’s twin gas hydrogen expertise shall be carried out aiming to minimise the CO₂ footprint of offshore power manufacturing and vessel operations.
The first three vessels are presently below development in Vietnam and shall be delivered in 2025. The supply of the 2 further CSOVs is anticipated in Q2 and Q3 of 2026, rising Windcat’s capability to ship environment friendly and sustainable offshore providers.
Windcat Managing Director, Willem van der Wel, mentioned, “The decision to expand the CSOV fleet aligns with Windcat’s commitment to meeting the increasing demand for these vessels worldwide, and will give us further capacity and flexibility to support clients in the offshore industry.”
