ABS and Singapore-based shipyard Seatrium Limited have achieved the task of a structural well being monitoring notation for a self-elevating drilling unit (SEDU).
ADMARINE 686 is the world’s first SEDU to obtain the ABS SMART (SHM) Notation, recognizing its means to watch and analyze the situation of a spread of key structural parts, supporting physics-based evaluation and simulation for a holistic structural well being evaluation and prediction of drilling and maritime property.
Seatrium Offshore Technology (a member of Seatrium Group) is collaborating with the Technology Centre for Offshore and Marine, Singapore (TCOMS) to construct a structural digital twin utilizing knowledge from sensors on the SEDU. The twin is able to detecting structural degradation primarily based on world power response. The structural well being monitoring good operate is being delivered on an industrial Internet of Things (IoT) digital platform with connectivity from the rig to a shoreside station in Singapore.
“The SHM notation is another significant step in the application of smart technology to advance the cause of safety at sea. Working together with forward-looking companies like Seatrium, we are setting the pace in digital innovation in the marine and offshore industries,” mentioned Christopher J. Wiernicki, ABS Chairman and CEO.
In April 2023, ABS acknowledged Seatrium as the primary shipyard group to deploy good applied sciences in its operations according to the ABS Guide for Smart Technologies for Shipyards. Previously, ABS and Seatrium introduced the world’s first good LNG bunkering vessel, FueLNG Bellina, in addition to recognizing Seatrium as the primary shipyard to combine good capabilities and providers into rigs, awarding the SMART(INF) and SMART(MHM) notations.
