Arctia Meritaito, a subsidiary of Finland’s Arctia, introduced it has been awarded a contract by the Norwegian Mapping Authority to carry out hydrographic seabed surveying as a part of the 2024 Mareano program.
Under its contract from the Norwegian Mapping Authority’s Hydrographic Service (NHS), Arctia Meritaito will survey roughly 1,900 sq. kilometers with multibeam echosounder and sub backside profiler in potential offshore wind space Sørvest F within the North Sea.
The surveys will likely be carried out by the multipurpose analysis vessel Pohjanmeri. Departure to the Norwegian waters is predicted as quickly as ice has cleared, and the ship will return to Finland close to the top of the summer time.
The Norwegian authorities has an ambition to develop offshore wind to extend entry to renewable vitality.
The contract marks Arctia’s third time collaborating within the Mareano program, which maps depth and topography, sediment composition, biotopes and habitats in Norwegian waters.
