Dutch marine companies agency Boskalis stated Monday it had accomplished the set up of the primary U.S.-made offshore substation, constructed for the South Fork Wind offshore wind challenge.
Kiewit constructed the 1,500-ton, 60-foot-tall substation at its Ingleside facility close to Corpus Christi.
After putting in the foundation and the modular support frame, this week at Ørsted and Eversource’s South Fork Wind, Boskalis’ Bokalift 2 offshore set up vessel accomplished the offshore substation set up work by lifting and putting in the topside.
According to Boskalis, the operation was supported by a fleet of greater than a dozen vessels.
South Fork Wind is on observe to be the primary accomplished utility-scale offshore wind farm in federal waters, with the challenge anticipated to be operational by the tip of 2023. The challenge can be New York’s first offshore wind farm and can energy roughly 70,000 New York households every year.
