Dutch marine companies agency Boskalis has accomplished its actions in help of the event of Ocean Winds’ 882 MW Moray West offshore wind farm in Scotland.

As a part of its multidisciplinary position within the mission, Boskalis deployed six vessels to hold out giant variety of actions off the east coast of Scotland within the Moray Firth.

First, Boskalis’ wholly-owned subsidiary Gardline carried out in depth geotechnical and geophysical survey works previous to the set up work.

Then, Boskalis’ subsea rock set up vessel Rockpiper put in greater than 110,000 tons of rock as scour safety for the 62 XXL monopiles required for the mission.

Boskalis then transported two instances eight monopiles utilizing it semi-submersible heavy transport vessel White Marlin from Asia to the Port of Invergordon in Scotland.

From there, Boskalis’ DP crane vessel Bokalift 2 picked up the monopiles, with weights various from 1,515 to 1,935 tons, previous to putting in them within the discipline by the use of vibro-driving in addition to hydraulic affect driving.

In addition, the corporate’s crane vessel Bokalift 1 put in the wind farm’s two offshore substation platforms, consisting of transition items, topsides and extra tools, wrapping up the work in Februray 2024.

“We can rightly say that during the execution of the Moray West project, a large part of Boskalis’ unique capabilities and specialisms were brought together. By doing so, we could make a significant contribution to advancing the energy transition in Scotland, as the offshore wind farm will provide 882 MW of electric power, equivalent to the annual need of up to 1.33 million households once operational,” Boskalis stated in a press release.

The put in capability of 882 MW will come from 60 SG 14-222 DD wind generators to be provided by Siemens Gamesa.

The mission is aiming to be generate first energy in 2024 with an operational lifetime of over 25 years, in keeping with Ocean Winds, which is a three way partnership accountable for the event shaped by Engie and EDP Renewables.

Under the current energy buy settlement signed with the builders, Amazon will supply 473MW of unpolluted energy from the wind farm, which is greater than half of its capability.
