Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding supplies 155,000 bbl ATB to Kirby

Kirby just recently took shipment of its 3rd 155,000 bbl ATB in 3 years from Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding

DECEMBER 26, 2018–Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding, Sturgeon Bay, WI, just recently provided a 155,000 bbl Articulated Tug Barge (ATB) system to Houston- based Kirby Corporation (NYSE: KEX), among the biggest storage tank barge drivers in the UNITED STATE

“We are pleased to deliver this new addition to the Kirby fleet,” claimed Todd Thayse, the shipyard’s Vice President as well asGeneral Manager “This beautiful vessel is a testament to the skills of the extraordinary American men and women who built this ship and who strive daily to deliver rugged and reliable ships that will stand the test of time,” he claimed.

The ATB system consists of the effective ATB pull Ronnie Murph, which has a general size of 130 feet, beam of light of 42 feet, deepness of 23 feet as well as draft of 19 feet. The 8,000 hp pull has a solution rate of greater than a rate of 12 knots.

The system’s sea storage tank barge, Kirby 155-03, has a size of 521 feet, beam of light of 72 feet, deepness of 41 feet, as well as 155,000-barrel capability.

“We want to thank all the men and women at Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding who helped deliver the ATB Ronnie Murph and Kirby 155-03,” claimed Kirby Chief Executive OfficerDavid Grzebinski “This is the third 155,000 barrel ATB it has built for Kirby in the past three years. This new Jones Act-compliant ATB unit will allow us to continue our commitment to provide efficient and reliable customer service.”

Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding is just one of 3 shipyards on the Great Lakes run by Italy’s Fincantieri, among the globe’s biggest shipyard teams with some 20,000 workers.
