Vard, a Norwegian subsidiary of the Fincantieri Group, has signed a contract for the design and building of a cable-laying vessel for Prysmian Group valued at $250 million.
This is the third cable-laying vessel Vard is constructing for Prysmian Group after vessels Monna Lisa, at present underneath building, and Leonardo da Vinci, which was delivered in 2021.
According to the businesses, the brand new unit will consolidate the widest fleet within the trade.
The cable-laying vessel will probably be an evolution of the Monna Lisa class. With a size of roughly 185 meters and a breadth of about 34 meters, the brand new vessel will probably be outfitted with superior cable set up options, similar to three carousels for a complete capability of 19,000 tonnes.
