With the large twin-gantry, twin-barge catamaran VB-10,000 now on-site in St. Simons Sound, Ga., responders have been taking the ultimate preparatory steps wanted because it begins reducing into the capsized automotive service Golden Ray.
The Unified Command supervising the salvage operation has been putting in gates within the one -mile lengthy Environmental Protection Barrier (EPB) across the wreck website. The EPB is customized barrier product of excessive density polyethylene pipe, 5-foot sq. mesh particles netting and ocean growth coupled to pilings and capable of rise and fall with tidal motion.
The gates will permit the removing from the location of the eight sections into which the Golden Ray will probably be reduce.
