Two Crewmembers Killed in “Incident” on Holland America Cruise Ship
[Brief] Two crewmembers have been killed final week aboard a Holland America cruise ship within the Bahamas, the road has confirmed.
On Friday, because the cruise ship Nieuw Amsterdam was calling on the port of Half Moon Cay within the Bahamas, two unnamed crewmembers have been killed in “an incident,” the road stated. No additional info was supplied, besides that the incident occurred in an engineering house.
The authorities have been notified, and the Bahamas Maritime Authority is the lead company for the investigation. Counseling is out there for affected personnel, the cruise line stated.
“All of us at Holland America Line are deeply saddened by this incident and our thoughts and prayers are with our team members’ families at this difficult time,” the road stated in a press release. “The safety, security and welfare of all guests and crew are the company’s absolute priority.”
ABC News reviews that the 2 crewmembers have been killed by an unintentional steam release, although this has not been publicly confirmed by Holland America.
Nieuw Amsterdam has resumed her industrial itinerary within the Bahamas.
