SEPTEMBER 30, 2015 – UPDATE: Increasingly tough situations at sea have meant the operation to load the Transocean Winner onto the Hawk in Broad Bay, Isle of Lewis (see earlier story), has needed to be suspended quickly, the U.Ok. Maritime & Coastguard company reported at about 5.30 p.m. native time.
Although there had been a climate window which might have meant it was potential, the swell has been greater and is now above the agreed protected limits for this operation.
The Hawk and Transocean Winner stay at speedy readiness in a single day and may the climate situations enhance, then the operation will resume as deliberate.
The newest climate forecasts are predicting an extra deterioration in wind and sea situations from Sunday onwards, so until the operation is resumed by midday tomorrow, then it’s doubtless that the Hawk might be stood down and the Transocean Winner might be put again onto her eight anchors.
Further discussions might be held by Hugh Shaw, the U.Ok. Secretary of State’s Representative Maritime Salvage and Intervention with Transocean and Smit Salvage to take a look at potential different choices for resolving the scenario.
