The largest heavy elevate vessel ever constructed within the U.S., the twin-gantry, twin-barge catamaran VB-10,000, has now arrived in St. Simons Sound, Ga., the place it’s going to play a key position within the salvage of the capsized automotive provider Golden Ray.
The large vessel will likely be used to chop the wreck sequentially into eight sections that it’ll elevate to be positioned on barges and dry docks contained in the Environmental Protection Barrier (EPB) across the wreck web site.
The St. Simons Sound Incident Unified Command says that a150-yard security zone has been established across the EPB and mariners are suggested to avoid the perimeter. Unauthorized flying of drones (UAVs) is prohibited across the wrecksite. Responders will report any sightings of drones and drone operators to native authorities.
