The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has confirmed that Yemen’s Houthis fired two anti-ship ballistic missiles from their managed areas into the Red Sea towards service provider vessel Pinocchio.
The Singaporean-owned, Liberian-flagged ship was attacked on March 11, CENTOM stated early on Tuesday, including that the missiles didn’t affect the vessel and that there have been no accidents or harm reported.
Later on the identical day, CENTCOM performed six self-defense strikes destroying an unmanned underwater vessel and 18 anti-ship missiles in Houthi managed areas of Yemen.
It was decided these weapons introduced an imminent risk to service provider vessels and U.S. Navy ships within the area, based on CENTCOM.
“These actions are taken to protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer and more secure for U.S. Navy and merchant vessels,” CENTOM stated in an announcement.
