The objective of the task is to harness the complete power of a ship’s electric system to satisfy vital requirements with the aid of semi and also completely independent choice help, to be created by Navatek and also UofSC. The task will certainly carry out research study right into power and also power systems modeling and also artificial intelligence, and also style and also create a very first of its kind electronic double of battle power and also power systems for the UNITED STATE Navy.

Navatek and also UofSC will certainly provide combined software and hardware to show, examination, and also verify the efficiency of the electronic double control systems.

The task will certainly incorporate artificial intelligence systems with conventional Navy ships.

Historically, Navatek has actually been a carrier of marine design and also modeling and also simulation solutions, although its profile has actually branched out to incorporate electronic doubles, power and also power systems, unmanned cars, robotics, freedom, AI/ML, information scientific research, inflatables, compounds, and also additive production. In prep work for this task, Navatek has actually worked with 10 full time researchers and also designers and also 4 trainees from UofSC and also South Carolina State University at its brand-new workplace in Columbia, S.C. The firm plans to broaden its visibility in the state to 60 staff members throughout the following 30 months.

“The research and development strengths of Navatek and UofSC are truly complementary, making the joint team uniquely positioned to develop innovative solutions and expert personnel for the Navy for many years to come,” stated Hossein Haj-Hariri, dean of UofSC’s College of Engineering and also Computing.

UofSC states that its collaboration with Navatek gives chances for American trainees to work with Navy jobs and also be subjected to advanced modern technologies. It states the ONR agreement is aiding develop the future generation of a STEM-focused labor force that will certainly lead marine modern technology.

“This is a very timely opportunity for UofSC to continue to lead the nation in the emerging field of Navy digital twin research, and to educate and train the next generation of innovators in this and related fields,” stated Haj-Hariri
