Finnish delivery firm Meriaura introduced it has positioned an order for 2 Ecotrader cargo ships from Dutch shipyard Royal Bodewes. The ships will probably be in-built Hoogezand for scheduled supply in January and December 2026.
The ships are 105 meters lengthy, 1A ice classed 6750 DWT vessels, designed to realize the bottom doable emission ranges, Meriaura stated. Like the EcoCoaster vessels Eeva VG and Mirva VG delivered in 2016, the newbuilds will probably be able to working on biofuel constituted of recycled uncooked materials produced by Meriaura’s subsidiary VG-Ecofuel. The Ecotrader vessels will even be roughly 30% bigger than the EcoCoaster vessels.

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has set the objective for carbon-neutral delivery by or round 2050. Meriaura’s local weather technique goals for carbon neutrality within the 2030s.
