Svitzer Modernizes Fleet With Four Damen Tractor Tugs
Svitzer chosen Damen Shipyards to offer 4 ATD 2412 tugs as a part of its ongoing fleet renewal program.
The 4 new tugs are of Damen’s 24-metre Azimuth Tractor Drive (ATD) design, with twin fins, a bollard pull of minimal 65 tonnes and lodging area for 4 crewmembers.
The vessels, outfitted with a hydraulically pushed aft winch and two Caterpillar 3516C TA HD/D primary engines, have a prime pace of 12 knots.
The first two vessels, to be named Svitzer Maimon and Svitzer Beata, will likely be delivered in mid-April 2016, and are designated as fleet renewal for the port operations fleet within the Dominican Republic.
The final two will likely be delivered in the midst of August. The vacation spot for these two tugs is but to be determined, in response to Svitzer.
