The Bay Area Air Quality Management District in California has introduced the opening of purposes for zero-emission heavy obligation forklifts, port cargo dealing with gear, marine vessel repower and shore energy for unregulated ocean-going vessels.
Up to $20 million in funding is now obtainable statewide via the VW Zero-Emission Freight and Marine (ZEFM) program. Applications are being accepted and reviewed on a first-come, first-served foundation till funding is exhausted.
Eligible gear for the marine vessel repower funding contains combustion-fueled engines in ferries, tugboats, and towboats, and hybrid vessels with one of many following: unregulated, Tier 1 or Tier 2 baseline engine(s).
The program is funded via the California VW Mitigation Trust, a program that gives $423 million to mitigate the surplus NOx emissions brought on by unlawful use of emissions testing defeat gadgets in VW diesel automobiles. The California VW Mitigation Trust’s funding advances low-emission automobile and gear deployment and accelerates the zero-emission transformation of transportation methods. More than 75% of the funds from this funding class are anticipated to profit deprived or low-income communities.
