GE Vernova’s Power Conversion enterprise was awarded a contract by Singapore shipbuilder ST Engineering Marine Limited to produce its Ship’s Electric Grid with Integrated Full Electric Propulsion (IFEP) gear for the Republic of Singapore Navy’s six-ship Multi-Role Combat Vessel (MRCV) program.
The six MRCVs would be the first IFEP-powered vessels for the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) and can change its fleet of mechanical drive Victory-class missile corvettes, which have been in service since 1989. Delivery of the electrical propulsion programs for the brand new ships is deliberate over the subsequent 10 years.
GE Vernova’s Ship’s Electric Grid consists of all turbines, medium-voltage switchboards, transformers, propulsion variable frequency drives (VFDs), electrical propulsion motors, thruster motors, tender starters, a shore energy connection, energy administration system (PMS), and the propulsion management system (PCS).
