Sensor options supplier Hensoldt UK has been chosen by Navantia UK to offer key methods to the UK Royal Fleet Auxiliary’s (RFA) three new Fleet Solid Support (FSS) ships. The new vessels will incorporate Quadome Naval 3D Air and Surface Surveillance Radar, Air Traffic Management (ATM) methods and Kelvin Hughes Integrated Navigation Bridge Systems (INBS).
Hensoldt will provide its new-generation Quadome 3D Air and Surface Surveillance radar, which options the most recent software-defined energetic electronically scanned array (AESA) know-how.
The Quadome radar consists of an built-in IFF (Identification Friend or Foe) antenna and can combine into the HENSOLDT MSSR 2000 IFF interrogator, already deployed for the UK Royal Navy (RN) and RFA. A complete ATM show answer can be included as a part of this contract award.
The north London-based firm will even provide Kelvin Hughes INBS together with SharpEye naval navigation radars and multifunction shows. The INBS will be customised to satisfy particular operational and technical wants, together with redundancy and safety choices, with a seamless open interface to different ship methods. Multifunction shows simplify entry to navigation duties, together with radar, charts, helicopter management and Conning Display.
The Kelvin Hughes INBS and SharpEye radars are already operational onboard the RFA Tide Class tankers and different RFA ships.
