Turkey, Romania, and Bulgaria will work collectively towards the specter of floating mines within the Black Sea resulting from warfare between Russia and Ukraine, the Turkish Defence Ministry stated on Wednesday.
The ministry gave no particulars of how it could tackle the floating mine drawback. It stated on social media platform X that the three nations had mentioned the problem on the NATO Defense Ministers assembly in Brussels.
Last week, the British authorities stated Russia might use sea mines to focus on civilian delivery within the Black Sea, together with by laying them on the strategy to Ukrainian ports. Ukraine and Russia have accused one another of planting mines off the Ukrainian coast.
Turkey, Romania and Bulgaria, plus Georgia, Poland and Ukraine beforehand mentioned clearing floating mines in April 2022.
Turkey can also be working with the United Nations, Ukraine, and Russia to revive the Black Sea grain initiative that Moscow stop earlier this 12 months.
