Brooklyn, N.Y. based mostly ammonia-to-power innovator Amogy Inc. has signed of a contract to buy gasoline cell methods from Ballard Power Systems (NASDAQ: BLDP)
Ballard’s FCwave engine is a scalable gasoline cell system licensed for operation in marine environments. Amogy’s proprietary ammonia-to-power platform makes use of a novel ammonia cracking know-how to provide hydrogen onboard for gasoline in a hydrogen engine. As we reported beforehand, the Amogy staff is at the moment scaling the know-how to be used in maritime vessels, with plans for a tank barge and tugboat operations.
Under the just-signed contract, Amogy will buy an preliminary order of three, 200 kW FCwave engines and Ballard will assist their integration with Amogy’s proprietary system. Ballard will ship the preliminary FCwave engines in 2023 for maritime deployment. A follow-on order for a further seven FCwave engines is anticipated upon profitable completion of the preliminary initiatives.
