The French shipyard Chantiers de Atlantique has chosen Ingeteam to offer the electrical propulsion for the luxurious crusing ship Orient Express Silenseas.

The ship has stable sails which make it the largest crusing ship on the earth. It is considered one of two vessels that can emulate the well-known Orient Express practice, enabling extra ecological and sustainable navigation through the most recent marine know-how.

The ships belong to Accor Group below the Orient Express model, and Ingeteam will provide two motors to drive the principle propulsion plus the three transverse thrusters, along with the frequency converters for all of them. It will even develop two propulsion distant controls, to allow most propulsion administration and effectivity with SolidSail know-how developed by Chantiers de lÁtlantique.

The converters will embody a floor connection to the port in order that the vessels will be related to the shore energy grid while moored and thereby keep away from having to run auxiliary combustion engines to energy lodge providers.

Orient Express Silenseas will depart in 2026 and be absolutely or considerably powered by the winds relying on climate circumstances. Three inflexible sails with a floor space of 1,500 sq. meters every shall be hoisted on a balestron rig, with three tilting masts reaching greater than 100 meters excessive, ready to make sure as much as 100% of the propulsion in appropriate climate circumstances.

The hybrid propulsion system will mix wind energy with an engine working on LNG, and the corporate plans to make use of inexperienced hydrogen as soon as the know-how is authorized for ocean passenger ships.

When the vessel can’t set its sails resulting from lack of wind, the electrical propulsion provided by Ingeteam will come into operation. Thus, the ship will be capable of proceed crusing with out polluting and sustaining most consolation by means of low vibration and noise.

The ship shall be 220 metres lengthy and can characteristic 50 suites, together with a 900 sq. meter Presidential Suite, two swimming swimming pools, two eating places and a speakeasy bar.
